Ministry to Youth and Families

Bethesda Basketball

Bethesda has 8 teams pre-K – 8th grade: Knights, Burn, Hustle, Express, Pirates, Lil' Celtics & Spark, playing in CYO & inter church biddy league of Springfield. Our 3rd/4th grade girls & 5th/6th grade boys teams won their age group's championships in the Western MA Christmas tournament held at the Basketball Hall of Fame during the holiday school break.  More Info: Bethesda Basketball

With 55% of the eight-grade students at risk for dropping out of school compared to a 36% risk in Massachusetts, there is a great need for this vital ministry. Coaches report regularly that players must do their school work to play on the team; the coaches often tutor the students and they monitor academic progress. Good news! Grades are improving and kids, especially the ones at risk, are staying out of trouble.

The Seventh Annual Bethesda Lutheran Kenny Peterson Memorial Basketball Tournament - takes place in February.
